It was quite some time since we had driven the Great Ocean Road, in fact the children were still young so it must have been in the 70s on one of our family camping holidays.
So we thought it would be nice to take the caravan on this trip, but our timing wasn't brilliant, we had forgotten that this was Melbourne Cup weekend. Talk about crowds, every man and his dog takes off the Monday between the weekend and Melbourne Cup Tuesday. The first caravan park we went to, Anglesea, looked like it half the population of Melbourne in it with matching noise levels (and sky high prices to match) so "move on".
You tend to forget about all these public holidays when you are retired!
Next stop Bells Beach, one of the famous Australian surfing locations.
We stopped for the night at a small, but equally overcrowded, camping spot at Wye River.
As we had no intention of staying here for any length of time, we left the van hooked up to Terry.
