Departed from there somewhat poorer!
Lunch at Macksville Bridge over the Nambucca River.
Stopped off at Telegraph Point to check out a Jayco Heritage caravan for sale.
The caravan was owned by the owner of a Water Ski School and Caravan Park, beautiful property as can be seen in these photos.
In hindsight we should have stopped here for the night but instead we decided to push on to Illaroo Campsite (#40 - Camps6) in the Yuraigir National Park. This proved to be another of the bits of unrelianle information in this guide. Described as a top recommended campsite, suitable for big rigs no less, the reality was somewhat different! After travelling some 60ms off the highway we found a campsite only suitable for walk in and a track barred to vehicles!
So 60 kms back to the highway where we eventually setlled for spending the night at a truck stop (#43 Halfway Creek - Camps6), which proved to be very busy and noisy with quite a few of the refrigirated semis running their on board generators all night whilst parked there.
Only plus was the restaurant where we had a very good meal of roast pork.
