After almost a weeks' delay we have finally left on our "open-ended" trip up to Queensland, planning to stay away as long as we are enjoying ourselves and no dead line to be back home.
The weeks' delay was due to 2 reasons, first our fridge tripped the RCD on the Saturday before we were due to leave, I narrowed that down to the defrost heating element but of course couldn't get a replacement till the following Monday. When that was fixed on the Monday we were starting to pack the van and found that the 12V water pump was leaking out of the pressure regulating switch, so I bought a new FloJet 12V pump, had to modify all the plumbing only to find it wasn't drawing water from the tank. So back to the supplier who tested it from a bucket at the same level as the pump, that worked but only just. When I asked him to test it with the bucket of water about a meter below the pump inlet, no pumping!
So plan B, change for bigger (and dearer) pump, by this time it was about 6pm, installation finally finished by about 10pm.
Then we still had to pack the van the next day, we finally left about 1pm, arrived in Finley about 4pm, phew.
When we arrived it was raining cats and dogs, so all in all a good start to the trip.
Are we still enjoying this, yes, but only just!
