26/03/2014 - Port Arthur

Stayed at the Port Arthur Holiday Park overnight, one of the best caravan parks we have stayed at. Beautiful, drive through, sites which are quite large and separated from the next site by trees and shrubs. You have your own fire place and you can purchase some firewood as well. Facilities are very good, although the showers have a timer you don't have to put coins in as in so many of caravan parks in Tassie. The timer is on for 5 mins, then off but after 2 mins you can have another shower if you want.

The wildlife roams around the park, almost like being in a free camp but with all the amenities!

The caravan park is only 2 km up the road from the Port Arthur Historic site, a must see for any visitor to Tassie.

There is so much to see and do here that we finished up spending the best art of 2 days here.

There is some restoration work being done to the Penitentiary  hence the fence around it.

Included in the entry price, which includes admission for 2 days, is a boat trip around the harbour.

Back on dry land again, this is a sculpture in the dockyard representing a ship under construction.
