After getting the auto serviced spent some time going over the car, changing oils and filters, looking for obvious problems and checking the almost new tyres.
These Pirellis took a bit of a beating on our trip to the High Country in January but they came through with flying colours.
Next came some repairs and mods to the Penguin camper trailer.
Noticed on our previous trip that the fridge wasn't working on 12V and eventually traced this to the 12V heating element not working even though there was power to it.
Decided to get away from the 12V and go for an inverter, thereby running the fridge on 240V produced from the 12V input. This has the advantage of being more efficient and also having thermostat control, unlike the 12V mode.
Also decided to replace the copper pigtail connection from LPG bottle with a heavy duty flexible hose.
Added some 12V sockets to power all the gadgets of modern life, added an extra shelf in one of the cupboards and again did a thorough check of the camper, both inside and out.
Almost ready for take-off on Saturday 6th July for what should be an interesting trip.
