Woke up to a very cold and frosty morning with ice on the lid of a frypan we had left outside as well as on the roof of the car.
As we were planning on staying at least a day in Bourke we called in to the Bourke Visitor Centre, a very nice looking building indeed, reflecting the number of tourists on the road these days.
Got talking to a very nice lady, Tricia, and asked her about the bullet pens she had on display. These were kit pens made by the local Mens Shed and I mentioned to her that I made bullet pens form real bullets. She was immediately very interested and asked me to show some of my work. When she saw my new Parker type pens with the snake skin tops she flipped over them and undertook to buy 2 of them for her sons in Perth, where she was going in 2 days time.
To cut a long story short, she asked me to come back in the morning when she would have some money for me.
So we picked our spot, it was still morning so plenty of places to choose from, unlike later in the day when the park would be jam packed!
Tricia als recommended we take a cruise on the PV Jandra and as I have always wanted to see and experience the Darling River, we took the cruise in the afternoon.
On the cruise we passed under the oldest lift bridge in Australia dating back to the hey days of the riverboats on the Darling and Murray Rivers.
