Day 9 - 14/07/2013 - Theresa Creek Dam - Charters Towers

After leaving Theresa Creek Dam via Clermont basically had an uneventful trip, a fairly straight unchanging road.
Quite a few triple road trains loaded with cattle, in the beginning of the trip there was a conveyor belt next to the road for quite a few kilometres.
I am assuming it carried coal from the 2 coal mines at Clermont to the rail head further up the road, from there it goes to the coast and on to our biggest coal customer, China.

On arrival in Charters Towers we checked in to a caravan park for 2 nights, so we had the luxury of power and good internet reception for a couple of nights.

The park was quite fll when we arrived but by 10am the next morning the xodus has been anf the park is mostly empty.

Here some shots of the caravan park, a Big4 one.

This fifth wheeler was quite impressive and a long way from home, based in WA. It was being towed by a Ford F250.

There was quite a nice area with a fire pit and pizza oven right next to where we were parked.

Promised ourselves a bludge day the next day, with a bit of washing scheduled as well.
