Day 15 - 20/07/2013 - CNC Meeting in Cairns

The  second reason for the trip to Cairns was a meeting of the CNC subgroup of the Woodwork Forums of which I am a member.

As I am intending to get in to CNC as an adjunct to my pen making this a good opportunity to get some first hand experience.

Here the convenor is creating a vector drawing of 2 Geckos, which will be carved as a negative image into some Silky Oak timber.

Here the Geckos are being carved out of the Silky Oak.

Yet another project done on the day, "A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work"

Another demonstrator uses his 4 axis machine to carve jewellery moulds in wax for later casting with gold.
