Back up the mountain to Lake Tinnaroo, about 25 km from Atherton. The campsite was in the Danbulla National Park, one of several around the Lake. These are all run by the Qld National Park Service and a site needs to be booked either on the internet or over the phone, cost is $5.45 per person per night. We booked for 4 nights for the princely sum of $43.60!
When we arrived Inge got the surprise of her life! She took this photo before we set the camper up.
This surprise meeting was arranged between us and Graham, which took a bit of doing and subterfuge on Grahams' part, also a bit of rearranging of their schedule. Inge wanted to go shopping this day but Graham had to tell her he didn't want to go out, but wanted to do some fishing!
Inge wasn't the only one that got a surpise when we arried, as we drove in to the campsite, we heard a loud call of "Hey Fred"!!! A couple from our local Landcare Group had arrived at this site only an hour or so before we arrived, very small world indeed to run in to a couple you know about 3000km from home arriving at almost the same time.
We set up close to Inge and Grahams' bus.
The views were fantastic, although we were to have a bit of rain over the next few days.
There was a very inquisitive Kookaburra that loudly demanded to be fed and virtually ate out of your hand!
The day closed with dinner together.
